Murjan · the coral

Murjan is the room the restoration was measured against. One wall was left as found — coral stone and gypsum render laid by hand some eighty years ago — and everything else in the room defers to it.

It opens onto the shaded first-floor gallery above the courtyard, so the sound of the fountain reaches the bed but the sun never does. A pair of deep chairs sits by the shutters for reading in the afternoon.

The bathroom keeps the palette of the wall: stone, gypsum white, and a line of indigo tile at the floor.
